I saw Brent Wednesday morning. As usual he came up to chat before we had to head for class. I noticed that he stood beside me when he walked over and kind of rubbed my shoulder. That’s the best way I can describe it. We talked, but then he had to go. When he was out of sight, I started walking to class.
Not two minutes later I heard feet running behind me. I turned to look over my shoulder and saw Brent running to catch up to me. I smiled and waited for him to catch up. We chatted a bit more. I think I was complaining about how far my class was from the rest of everything else. When we got to the entrance of his building, we stopped walking.
He gave me a hug, and at that moment I was cursing myself for not having enough balls to ask him to do something. That’s when my mouth opened and I asked if he wanted to have lunch together sometime. Holy shit, where did that come from. I started to feel even more confident when he said sure, and started trying to figure out when a good time would be. It turns out that we both get out of class on the same days at the same times. He said this week probably wouldn’t work, but next week looked good.
I walked to class with a smile on my face, glad that I had finally grown the balls to speak up.
